"Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine."

Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman as Rick and Ilsa of Casablanca. Such an amazing film and part of of my Hollywood Golden Couples theme, I already have one more completed and one other couple in mind. Such amazing actors as well, I love Humphrey Bogart, they just don't come like that anymore, actually Leonardo comes close.

I really enjoyed doing this one, it just came so naturally. I thought it was going to be a challenge because it was my first time drawing a portrait featuring two people, but it worked wonderfully. I love old Hollywood portraits, they have the perfect light and contrast for drawing. Also I think the contrast between the two actors skin is interesting and still reflects the way different sexes are treated today: women and seen to be more beautiful the younger they are and the smoother the skin, whereas men seem to be allowed to age.

Anyway technical stuff: Roughly A4 in size and done with 2H, HB and 4B mechanical pencils. I already have this one framed and it's going on my wall as soon as I get in my new flat.

amazing work  i really enjoy this one. it has that old quality to it, which you nailed down. the lighting is excellent in this piece (including that little bit of shading in the corner, it really adds to the overall picture). i also really like the hair in this work. it seems simple, yet has details.

although I've never seen the movie (i'm a young'n ^^; ), i can really feel the mood of these two couples. great work! :worship:

Thanks so much for the lovely comment and the fav

And you should definitely check out Casablanca, yes it could seem dated and not enough action for some but it's an amazing film, you can never be too young to appreciate good movies, and I'm pretty much a young'n too lol.

"And some say, Old Greg is like a, a big fish finger, but big! Like um, like a garage. As big as a garage. Imagine that fish finger, when you can see it as big as a garage, oh! It isn't small, it's the big one, like that."

Just like the movie this is a real classic.
Beautifully drawn.
Tell me please, did you hand draw the font? It looks as if you did.
