Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman as Rick and Ilsa of Casablanca. Such an amazing film and part of of my Hollywood Golden Couples theme, I already have one more completed and one other couple in mind. Such amazing actors as well, I love Humphrey Bogart, they just don't come like that anymore, actually Leonardo comes close. I really enjoyed doing this one, it just came so naturally. I thought it was going to be a challenge because it was my first time drawing a portrait featuring two people, but it worked wonderfully. I love old Hollywood portraits, they have the perfect light and contrast for drawing. Also I think the contrast between the two actors skin is interesting and still reflects the way different sexes are treated today: women and seen to be more beautiful the younger they are and the smoother the skin, whereas men seem to be allowed to age. Anyway technical stuff: Roughly A4 in size and done with 2H, HB and 4B mechanical pencils. I already have this one framed and it's going on my wall as soon as I get in my new flat. And you should definitely check out Casablanca, yes it could seem dated and not enough action for some but it's an amazing film, you can never be too young to appreciate good movies, and I'm pretty much a young'n too lol.
